How to Prepare for a Photoshoot: My Checklist for You
Over years of shooting, I've learned: a photoshoot is our shared project. The better we prepare together, the more natural and warm the results. Here's what I usually recommend to my clients.
One Week Before
What we'll discuss:
- Your ideas and preferences — send references, I want to understand your vision
- Location — I shoot in studios, outdoors, parks, cafés, at your home
- Timing — I love golden hour for soft light, but morning also brings a special freshness
- Number of outfits — how many changes feel comfortable for you
What to prepare:
- 1–3 outfits depending on session length — I can help choose if you'd like
- Everything clean and ironed — the camera picks it up
- Accessories — jewelry, hats, scarves add character
The Day Before
- Get enough sleep — I see fatigue in the eyes, and it's hard to hide
- Don't try new makeup or hairstyle — better to stick with what you know
- Trim nails if hands will be in the frame
- Charge your phone — useful for contact and music during the shoot
On the Day
What to bring:
- Mirror and makeup for touch-ups
- Comb and hair clips
- Water and a light snack
- Extra shoes if we'll be walking a lot
Most important — arrive a bit early so you don't rush. Trust me — I'll guide poses and angles. Relax and enjoy. I love when shots come from ease, not tension.
Good preparation takes away half the nerves. The rest is up to me and your natural self.
